GIRLS PROGRAMS
The Ridgewood Lacrosse Association (RLA) offers the following Girls Lacrosse Programs for the 2010 season. While the RLA seeks to accommodate all participants, registration in these programs is on a first come – first served basis (and tryouts may apply as specified below). If any of the programs below reach capacity prior to the registration deadline, players will be placed on a wait list. The RLA will make every effort to allow players to play but can make no assurances that players on the wait list will be accommodated or that tryouts will not be required.
NEW IN 2010
New program changes apply for the 2010 season. Players at the 5th, 6th and 7th grade levels will play either House League or Travel League - not both. When registering this year, CHOOSE ONE PROGRAM ONLY! Players that register for a Travel League tryout who are not assigned to a travel team roster will automatically be placed on a House League team.
HOUSE LEAGUE (NON-TRAVEL)
3rd and 4th grades will be combined. 5th, 6th and 7th grades will be combined. Each team will have approximately 18-20 players, equally balanced by skill level. There will be one practice per week and one in-town game per weekend. The 3rd/4th grade games will utilize an 8 v. 8 shortened field format. 5th, 6th & 7th grade games will utilize a 12 vs. 12 full field format. The players will be provided with team shirts and mouth guards. Each player must provide her own girls lacrosse stick and protective eyewear (goggles). The season will start in late March/early April depending upon field conditions as determined by the Village Parks & Recreation department. The season will end in mid June.
5th THROUGH 8th TRAVEL LEAGUE
Travel League is offered to players in grades 5 through 8. Each travel player will participate in approximately 12 regular season games and, at the discretion of the Girls Program Director, may participate in one or more tournaments (depending on availability) prior to the conclusion of the Spring 2010 season. Each player must provide her own girls lacrosse stick and protective eyewear (goggles). Game shirts and skirts will be provided for use during the season and must be returned at the conclusion of the season. Mouth guards will also be provided. The practice season will start in late March/early April depending upon field conditions as determined by the Village Parks & Recreation department. The travel game season will start late April and end mid June. Practices will be held two times a week (typically weeknights) and one game per week will be played on weekends and selected weeknights.
Interested Travel League players MUST register to tryout prior to the January 8, 2010 registration deadline. Tryout registrations will not be accepted after this date. A panel of experienced coaches in cooperation with the grade specific coaches will conduct tryouts. The Girls Program Director will approve the final rosters. Any player who is not assigned to a travel team roster after the scheduled tryouts will be placed on a House League team. An additional travel fee will be assessed upon team selection. Attendance at all Travel League practices and games is mandatory for Travel League play. In fairness to other players, those who fail to attend all practices and games may forfeit playing time or their position on the travel team. Exceptions are made for conflicts with school, religious, family or health commitments. Grade specific information is as follows:
5th and 6th Grade Travel League
Players in the 5th and 6th grade travel program will be combined onto teams of approximately 20 players. These teams will be equally balanced by skill level.
